Is Happiness Found By The Union Of Heart and Mind?
May the flower’s full moon bring happiness to your heart!
It’s unnecessary to go through every human experience to attain ultimate wisdom. You should be able to learn by studying the lives of others. Why become helplessly involved in an endless panorama of events to discover that nothing in the world can ever make you happy?
John Paul Getty, the American oil magnate, is often attributed with the quote, “I can afford anything I want but I can’t say I’m happy.” This reflects the idea that immense wealth does not necessarily bring happiness. Although the exact wording may vary slightly in different sources, the sentiment remains consistent.
Where is happiness to be found? Finding anything takes effort and concentration. Those who seek happiness in a person, place, or material things never find lasting happiness down here in this Earth school house. Those who seek happiness in their Creator wake up to a different realization.
The Happiness, Bliss Pathway
“I know, deep within me, that I’ll find happiness only in God. Yet many earthly things still attract me,” said a young man who was contemplating entering the Sel-Realization Order.
“A child thinks it’s fun to play with mud pies but loses interest in them when he is older,” the Master replied. “When you grow up spiritually, you won’t miss the pleasures of the word.” **
Meditation involves entering the innermost sanctuary of the soul, where one remembers and realizes the forgotten image of God within. This takes realization. Since each one of us is a child of God and born of His spirit, in all its purity, joy, and glory, this happiness is only found in the cave of inner silence.
We come to the feet of Creator Father and Mother to shower. We were born out of God’s breath; by His love, we have grown. Through our lonely seeking, we find He is the nearest of the near, dearest of the dear. He is the closest of the close, the most cherished of the cherished.
The Creator’s hands deliver the leaves, flowers, trees, mountains, rivers, seasons, and stars above in a humble, soulful perfume spread. We come to give our innermost gathered flowers of gratitude to the Creator’s omnipresence in humble reverence and love.
Meditation And Concentration Techniques
“In creation, it appears that God sleeps in the minerals, dreams in the flowers, awakens in the animals, and in man knows that He is awake.” **
Many religions do not instruct on concentration and scientific meditation techniques to connect into the cave of inner silence and speak with the Creator. When Solomen spoke with the Creator, he asked for an understanding heart and wisdom, and God answered. Since these techniques lead to and are the essence of self-realization, one might want to investigate further.
This kind of meditation opens what is known as the Christ Consciousness Center that Jesus referred to when he said, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” The classic book The Autobiography of a Yogi, dives deeply into this.
To take it up a notch, lessons on how to concentrate, meditate, and practice spinal breathing, as well as the Kria Yoga technique, are available at https://yogananda.org/lessons. There is a small $8 monthly charge for these lessons delivered to your home mailbox.
Happiness, joy, peace, and prosperity belong to us. With discipline, our path unfolds to higher realms.
